Through My Lens: How a Childhood Curiosity Sparked a High-Fashion Career My name is Mikael. Long before I ever held a camera, I was obsessed with the world around me. As a child, while other kids were running past the ordinary details of life, I found myself captivated by them—the way late-afternoon sunlight sliced through an alleyway, the unusual texture of an old wooden doorway, or the expressive quiet on a stranger’s face. I didn't just look at interesting sights; I studied them. It wasn't long before a realization hit me: these moments were beautiful, but they were also fleeting. I wanted to preserve them. _____ Learning to See Before I Could Capture I started taking pictures with whatever basic device I could get my hands on. At first, it was just about keeping memories safe from fading. I took photos of everything—street corners, shadows, quiet corners of my neighborhood. I had no formal understanding of aperture, shutter speed, or composition rules; I was simply guided by an internal instinct for what felt meaningful. After a while, I began showing my photos to family, friends, and acquaintances. Their reactions caught me by surprise. People didn't just see a sunset or a street; they saw an emotion. They noticed something deeper, a distinct perspective that stood out. "People started telling me, ‘Mikael, you see things the rest of us miss. You make the ordinary look extraordinary.’ That was the moment I realized photography wasn't just a hobby for me. It was my voice." That feedback changed everything. I knew in my heart that I wanted to spend my life doing this. I wanted to turn my favorite passion into my profession. The Wall of Reality Wanting something desperately and having the means to achieve it, however, are two very different things. As a teenager, my ambition ran into a wall of harsh reality. Professional photography is a demanding craft that requires serious equipment—cameras, prime lenses, lighting setups, and editing software—none of which I could afford. Beyond the physical gear, I knew I needed proper technical training to elevate my raw talent into a commercial skill. I had the fire and the vision, but standing in front of camera store windows with empty pockets made my dream feel impossibly distant. "I remember looking at gear manuals online and feeling completely overwhelmed by the financial barrier. I had the drive to shoot at a high level, but without access to the right tools or guidance, I felt invisible, stuck at the starting line." For a while, it felt as though my passion would remain nothing more than an unfulfilled wish. The Turning Point: Creative Talents Then came the moment that changed the trajectory of my life. I came across Creative Talents. Discovering this platform was hands-down the strongest, most pivotal moment I have ever experienced. They didn't just look at my financial limitations; they looked at my passion and my potential. Creative Talents stepped into my life when I needed support the most, providing me with access to the equipment I could only dream of, alongside the mentorship and professional training required to master the craft. "When Creative Talents opened their doors to me, they didn't just hand me resources—they validated my dream. For the first time, someone believed in my potential enough to invest in it, and that gave me the confidence to push past every limit I thought I had." They bridged the gap between my raw passion and the industry standards, teaching me how to control light, direct subjects, and build a cohesive visual narrative. Framing the Future: Shooting for High Fashion Today, my life looks completely different from those days spent staring at store displays. I transitioned into the world of fashion photography—a field where art, identity, and visual storytelling meet. I now shoot for major clothing and lifestyle brands, creating visual campaigns that reach thousands of people. Walking onto a high-production set, directing models, and seeing my images used by brands I once thought I would never even come close to is a surreal, humbling experience. My journey taught me that talent is only half the equation; the other half is resilience and finding the right community that believes in you. If you have a passion burning inside you, don't let current limitations convince you that your dream is impossible. Circumstances can change in an instant when your preparation meets the right opportunity. I started as a kid who just wanted to hold onto beauty before it disappeared. Thanks to my persistence and the life-changing support of Creative Talents, I now get to create beauty for the world to see every single day.

Investing in Vision: Why I Traded “Blind Giving” for Creative Impact

From Real Estate to Artistic Legacy: A New Way to Give Back

Jordan Blake
Founder & CEO, SKL Properties
Philanthropist for the Arts & Community Builder

As a professional in the real estate industry, my world is built on foundations, structures, and tangible growth. Over the years, I have been fortunate enough to see my business thrive and find success on a global scale. Yet, outside the boardroom and the blueprints, I’ve always harbored a quiet fascination for the visual world—specifically the art of photography and the intricate architecture of web design.

I am not a photographer. I am not a graphic designer. For a long time, my interest was purely that of an observer, a curious bystander who appreciated how a single image could tell a story or how a well-designed website could change a user’s perspective. I wanted to engage with this world of visual arts, but I didn’t know how a “business person” fit into a “creative’s” world.

That curiosity eventually evolved into a search for purpose. I wanted to move beyond being a spectator. I wanted to be a catalyst.

The Problem with the “Spare Coin” Mentality

We have all been there. You are walking down the street, and you encounter someone in need. You reach into your pocket, hand over a coin or a small bill, and keep walking. In that moment, you feel a brief flicker of compassion, but it is immediately followed by a shadow of uncertainty.

Where does that money go? Will it provide a meal, or will it fuel a vice? Is it truly helping to improve a life, or is it just a temporary Band-Aid on a deep-seated wound?

In business, we demand transparency. We look at ROIs, we track developments, and we ensure our investments are yielding results. Why should our philanthropy be any different? I realized that I no longer wanted to give “blindly.” I wanted to know that my contribution was creating a bridge to a better future, not just a momentary reprieve.

Discovering “Creative Talents”: Transparency Meets Artistry

My search for a more meaningful way to give led me to Creative Talents. As someone who spends perhaps a bit too much time browsing the digital landscape, their approach immediately struck a chord with me.

Creative Talents isn’t just a donation platform; it is an incubator for the next generation of visual storytellers. They specialize in finding young, underprivileged talents in the fields of photography and visual design—the very mediums I had admired from afar—and providing them with the tools, mentorship, and financial support they need to turn their raw passion into a professional career.

What truly set them apart for me was their commitment to transparency.

How Your Donation Transforms into Art

When you support a young artist through Creative Talents, you aren’t just “throwing a penny” into a faceless fund. You are sponsoring a specific journey. Here is how your contribution changes the narrative for a young creative:

  1. Professional Equipment: Many gifted young people have the “eye” for photography but lack the expensive gear required to compete in the industry. Your support puts cameras and software into the hands of visionaries.
  2. Educational Workshops: Donations fund intensive training in visual design, UI/UX, and digital post-production, ensuring these talents have the technical skills to match their creativity.
  3. Mentorship Programs: We connect donors and industry veterans with students, bridging the gap between artistic talent and business acumen.
  4. The Tangible Result: This is the part that moved me most. You don’t just receive a “thank you” note. You see the gallery. You see the portfolio. You see the website they built or the exhibition they hosted.

You aren’t just giving money; you are witnessing the birth of an artist.

Why Visual Arts? (The Power of Photography and Design)

In the modern world, visual communication is our universal language. Photography captures the human condition, while visual design dictates how we interact with technology. By supporting young talents in these fields, we are ensuring that the stories of tomorrow are told with beauty and precision.

For an adult professional like myself, there is a profound sense of fulfillment in knowing that my business success can empower a young person to capture a moment or design a digital experience that might move thousands of people. It is a legacy that lives on through their lens.

Become a Patron of the Future

If you have ever felt the urge to help but were deterred by the lack of clarity in traditional charity, I invite you to join me. At Creative Talents, we are looking for donors who understand that creativity is a necessity, not a luxury.

We serve young people who have the drive but lack the means. We offer you the chance to be more than a donor—we offer you the chance to be a patron of the arts.

Don’t just give change. Create change.

Whether you are a fellow business owner, a lover of photography, or simply someone who believes that every young person deserves a chance to see their vision realized, your contribution matters. Join us at Creative Talents, and let’s build something beautiful together.
